All the fashion talking points

Watch: Emmy Awards 2021: Huge night for UK stars as The Crown and Ted Lasso dominate.

After going virtual last year, the Emmy’s 2021 kicked off in person last night, meaning a return to red carpet appearances from some of our favourite TV stars.

Following last week’s incredible fashion moments at the Met Gala, we were expecting big things, and the looks, while a little more subtle, certainly didn’t disappoint.

Now in its 73rd year, the event, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer for the first time, saw big wins for The Crown, Ted Lasso, and I May Destroy You, and as well as scooping their fair share of awards, the Brits also rocked it on the red carpet with Kate Winslet, Olivia Coleman and Michaela Coel all doing themselves proud in the style stakes.

While most were in attendance at the glittering do in Los Angeles, Netflix put on

How Beauty & Self-Care Can Influence Your Relationships

For many of us, our first experiences with self-care and beauty are through our closest relationships—be it family or friendships. For example, DeVard Ozaydinli tells me about how seeing her mom’s rituals informed her own, especially now that she’s a mother. “I had very few images of Black women indulging in beauty [portrayed in the media] growing up—so that’s why seeing my mom take care of herself was so important,” she says. “ I can remember it so crystal clear: Putting on the lipstick, the fragrance, and laying out the clothes. It was the ritual of getting ready. Even being at a very young age, I understood that this was her process.”

But our sense of beauty and our relationships are symbiotic, too. We don’t simply learn how to take care of ourselves through others—we also learn how to view ourselves. Whether we realize it or not, our relationships, and
