New York Fashion Week has officially come to an end. While the Spring 2022 shows are just getting started in London, we’re taking the time to highlight our favorite street style looks from the past week. We edited down the bunch to 33 (!) of our favorite images, featuring showgoers who stood out to us on the sidewalks (and whose outfits we’re most likely to copy, tbh.)

The Met Gala 2021 was always going to be a headline-hitting affair. 

After last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic, celebrities – and their stylists – pulled out all the stops for their red carpet looks this year. 

Hosted by co-chairs Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka, the biggest event on the fashion circuit’s calendar also featured red carpet regulars including Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and JLo in addition to some Met Gala newcomers, US Open 2021 winner Emma Raducanu, rapper Lil Nas, Schitt’s Creek star and co-writer Dan Levy and the late Kobe Bryant’s daughter Natalia.

Afghan women hit back at Taliban with #DoNotTouchMyClothes campaign

Afghan women have started an online campaign to protest against the Taliban’s strict new dress code for female students. Using hashtags like #DoNotTouchMyClothes and #AfghanistanCulture, many are sharing pictures of their colourful traditional dresses. The BBC’s Sodaba Haidare spoke to the woman who sparked this social media fightback.

Type “Afghan traditional clothes” into Google and you will be overwhelmed at the sight of multi-coloured cultural dresses. Each one is unique, with handmade embroidery and heavy designs, small mirrors placed carefully around the chest, skirts long and pleated, perfect for twirling during “Attan” or Afghanistan’s national dance. Some women sport embroidered hats, others wear heavy headpieces, depending on which region of Afghanistan they come from.
