Chanel Plans to Stage a Fashion Show With Guests in July

LES BAUX-DE-PROVENCE, France Chanel is heralding the return of physical fashion shows in Paris, with plans to stage a display with guests during the French capital’s couture week in July.

As France prepares to gradually lift lockdown restrictions from May 19, the luxury house is getting ready to hold what will be its first show with an audience in nine months. The venue it has chosen is the Palais Galliera, the fashion museum that briefly reopened in October with a large-scale exhibition on Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Online shopping continues to be a popular option for people this year, but the Better Business Bureau warns that scammers are using the name of popular retail companies to steal local resident’s money and information.

“How they do it is they will do a lot of coupons, and it appeals to us, right? It’s an amazing deal and we click on that link, we get directed to what looks like that business’s website, we place our order, and then nothing happens, and that person has just been scammed,” said Roseann Freitas with the Better Business Bureau.

Nordstrom features Haiti made face masks, hair accessories

Haitian-American fashion designer Dayanne Danier was at the end of a 10-day trip to rural Central Haiti in late January checking on the production of her latest creations when one of the seamstresses turned to her as she prepared to leave.

“Don’t forget to send the fabric,” Danier, 43, recalled the woman saying. “Don’t take too long.”

Danier had been going back and forth between New York and Haiti since the country’s monstrous 2010 earthquake. She had watched as interest in Haiti’s handmade arts and crafts piqued soon after the disaster with well-known American designers buying and selling Haiti-made designs, only to quickly wane. She understood the meaning behind the woman’s plea.

“She was basically saying, ‘If you don’t send the fabric, we are going to have to go home,’” she recounted. “’Do whatever you’ve got to do for us to be consistently working.’“
