The Black In Fashion Council will spotlight 16 designers during NYFW
New York Fashion Week is set to kick off this weekend – and will, for the second season running, see a number of minority fashion designers profiled through a partnership with IMG Models and the Black In Fashion Council.
Following a successful collaboration last season, the two organisations have teamed up again on a four-day showroom, which will spotlight the work of 16 designers.
The showroom is a much larger space than was seen last September, which profiled four brands. The designers featured this season include; House of Aama, Edas, Marrisa Wilson, Third Crown, Beads Byaree, Chelsea Paris, Chuks Collins, Kendra DuPlantier, Whensmokeclears, Michel Men, Lola Ade, Nicole Benfield, Nicole Shante, Come Back as a Flower, Label by Three and Local European.

“I am really excited that we are expanding this partnership because it still feels like such a weird time to be creative, especially for a young designer,” Lindsay Peoples Wagner, Black In Fashion Council co-founder, told American Vogue.
“Something that I’m personally passionate about is making sure that the next generation of designers has the support and resources that they need, specifically people of colour creators in the industry really getting that access to resources.”
As with many of the catwalk shows and presentations this season, the showroom will also have a virtual arm, with assets being accessible on nyfw.com. New York Fashion Week will kick off on Friday 12 February, while the Black In Fashion Council showroom will run from Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17.
