Beauty queen Zoe Sozo Bethel dies from injuries sustained in accident

A young beauty queen, brand ambassador and social-political commentator has died eight days after suffering severe head and neck injuries in an accident, her heartbroken family announced.

Zoe Sozo Bethel, Miss Alabama for America Strong 2021, was 27.

“On Friday, February 18, 2022, at approximately 5:30AM Eastern time in Miami, Florida, our beloved Zoe Sozo Bethel passed from this life into the next as a result of succumbing to her injuries,” her family wrote on her Instagram account. “Zoe touched the hearts of many people and was actively affiliated with several organizations and groups.”

Indian music composer Bappi Lahiri, who was known for his groovy disco tunes and eye-catching fashion style, has died at the age of 69.

Details of his death were still unclear – he had recovered from Covid in April last year.

In September, he said he was “doing well” and that it was “disheartening” to learn that there were rumours circulating about his health.

He died in a hospital in Mumbai city on Wednesday.

Fondly known as “Bappi Da”, Lahiri composed songs for several hit movies such as Disco Dancer, Himmatwala, Sharaabi, Adventures of Tarzan, Dance Dance, Satyamev Jayate, Shola Aur Shabnam, among others.

But often, the most striking characteristic about Lahiri was his ornamental bling.

Always seen sporting gleaming gold chains and bracelets, he was a style icon for many. His flashy velvet jackets and sequinned robes were also a trademark style.

Fashion icon Andre Leon Talley has died at 73.

Talley died at a hospital in White Plains, New York, according to TMZ. A cause of death has not been revealed.

Often clad in giant, flowing robes, Talley was a towering figure—he stood six feet six inches tall—in the heyday of America’s most prominent fashion magazine, Vogue. Talley headed the glossy publication’s fashion news division from 1983 to 1987, became the its creative director in 1988, and then moved on to the role of editor-at-large, which he held until 2013. He continued to contribute to the magazine afterward.
