Marvel’s New Avenger Just Left Iron Man Speechless With One Sick Burn
Iron Man has one of the biggest egos in comics, but one of the newest Avengers just put Tony Stark in his place in hilarious fashion.
Warning! Spoilers for Eternals #10 by Marvel Comics
Namor the Sub-Mariner is the newest addition to the current Avengers team, and he’s already competing with Iron Man for the biggest ego on the team. In a new preview for Eternals #10 by Marvel Comics, Tony Stark and Namor have a heated conversation, where the former ruler of Atlantis’ ego leaves even the billionaire hero speechless.
The current Avengers roster is in flux as the team has welcomed new members while a few other longtime heroes departed the supergroup. She-Hulk left the group to return her roots as a lawyer, while Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider disappeared amid threats to the Multiverse. In their absence, both Namor the Sub-Mariner and Jane Foster’s Valkyrie have assisted the Avengers. However, Iron Man quickly finds out he might not have the biggest ego amongst Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
In a brand new preview for Eternals #10 by Kieron Gillen, Esad Ribic, Matthew Wilson, and VC’s Clayton Cowles, Tony Stark talks with his Avengers teammates about the Eternals’ arrival at their Celestial headquarters. Namor tells Iron Man he’s disappointed about his concerns and is willing to meet with Sersi. Stark tells Namor to “dial back the testosterone” as he wonders why Sersi has asked their newest recruit on a dinner date and not him. Namor responds by telling Tony he understands now, calling his fellow Avenger “jealous.” Iron Man is stunned by the comment.
Tony Stark even admits that some days, he wonders if Namor exists solely to prove how other men feel about him. Captain Marvel cracks a smile and jokes about people saying Iron Man lacks self-awareness. Unfortunately for the Avengers, Iron Man’s concerns seem to be spot-on – and not because he’s jealous (although he probably is). In the preview, readers see Sersi is using her beauty to seduce Namor so that she can get deeper inside the Celestial Base to get answers on the Deviants and Thanos. Namor might think he’s in for something special, but he’s being used as a pawn by Sersi for the Eternals infiltration of Avengers Mountain.
Seeing Namor leave Iron Man speechless by calling him jealous is hilarious. Both Avengers have massive egos with are bound to clash with one another. However, Tony Stark is right to be concerned about the Eternals, while Namor is foolishly playing right into their game. Will Namor the Sub-Mariner figure out he’s being used by the Eternals, and will Iron Man help him despite his ego being checked? Readers will find out more when Eternals #10 arrives in comic book stores on Wednesday.
