In-person fashion runway presentations are back on the radar and we couldn’t be more ecstatic.
British Fashion Council in partnership with HSBC Middle East and Chalhoub Group hosted an exclusive catwalk show at the Expo 2020 Dubai’s UK Pavilion for the leading British designer label Preen by Thornton Bregazzi on October 24, 2021.
Founded by Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, the thematic concept for their Spring/Summer 2022 collection was enlightened by lockdown-induced dressing that echoed elements of a bygone era.
From voluminous dresses to vegan-leather bodices, the collection was nothing short of innovative as displayed on the models who walked the runway. With vintage upcycled patchwork and ruffled sleeved pieces, the innovative pieces were an ode to the 1980s where oversized cardigans and graphic prints had taken centre stage.
By ensuring sustainability continues to be at the helm of all the brands, the pieces are created with FSC certified vegan leather pieces to promote the concept of ethical fashion in the industry. Recycled knits and other organic materials were the collection’s key components to promote a positive change with eco-friendly practices.
Keeping in line with the British Fashion Council’s mission to promote a circular economy in the industry, this fashion show showcased talent which matches the same principles. By championing diversity and developing business profiles globally, this non-profit-organisation has grown bountifully over the years.
The catwalk took place as part of an invigorating series entitled ‘In the Future… What will we wear?’. It ran from October 22 to October 27, 2021, with several leading experts such as Jimmy Choo and the Royal College of Art, who were key speakers from the British Fashion Council.
Besides conducting exhibitions, fashions and hosting several activities, BFC is also a leader in talent identification with its foundation’s effort to grow brands globally. Amid the COVID crisis, several businesses were supported through this scheme to still grow despite the situation.
