5 style lessons to take from the best-dressed guests at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Fashion month is back and is off to a colourful start in Copenhagen, where the fashion set have been out and about in their finery. Physical shows (rather than digital) are back on the schedule, with more press and influencers turning out in person to sit runway side at Scandinavia’s biggest brands’ presentations.

You may associate Scandi style with cool minimalist tailoring, soft, sumptuous materials and clean lines. This year however, it’s quite the opposite. The best-dressed attendees were wearing megawatt yellow with super bright greens, print clashing was seen across the board and bags were worn to stand out as dopamine dressing was taken to the extreme.

There were a few wallflowers amongst the colour rainbow enthusiasts, and those who erred more on the side of the traditional Danish style dressed tonally, combining shades of browns, creams and greys via sleek separates.

Here is our pick of the best looks, and how to emulate them:

Bright colours can be toned down with clever colour blocking, and knowing which colours go together is a good place to start. Yellow and grey balance each other out well, green and cream make for a refreshing combination, and orange and blue are complementary colours, so make natural partners. This is a look you can do with existing pieces in your wardrobe or by zinging up existing staples with a bright new purchase.
